Havanese Puppies Facts
Havanese Quick Fact page is designed to give answers to all of those questions you have so that by the time we talk over the phone, you will already know the answers to most questions. This hopefully will save us time, make the experience much smoother and it gives us more time for the puppies!
- We have been breeding Havanese puppies since 1996.
- Our Havanese puppies are raised in our home with our four children helping with their care. This is not only great for the socialization of the pups in preparing them to be great pets for your home, but it is also great training for my kids!
- They are born in our bedroom, and stay there until around 4-6 weeks old (and are so noisy I can't sleep 🙂). We then move them to the nursery (below our bedroom so that we can hear them) so that they have little more space, and we get a little more sleep. They are still however close enough to keep a close eye on. This is also where their potty training begins.
- Our puppies are paper trained by the time you take them home and will easily move into outdoor training or indoor litter/paper training as you prefer.
- We recommend crate training your pups and will give you more details on this when you visit our pups. Our system has a 100% success rate so far, and we have had 4 customers say that after a few weeks they had NO ACCIDENTS. (Understand this is only 4 out of many, but is still pretty cool).
- Our original female that we started our blood line from is a 4th generation of “Best of Show” Champions. From this beginning we have built our lines and only offer our pups to the best homes and families. We do not sell to other breeders or to dog show people.
- We have all of the parents in our home, so if you want to see the parents, or know their pedigree, they are here to see and meet when you come to see the puppies.
- All of our parents have health checks done to check overall general health, hearing, and patellar luxation.
- All our our parents also have had the CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) examination performed on them. This examination is a specialized exam done by an ophthalmologist and it checks for 26 different potential eye problems.
- All puppies are Vet checked before they go home with you.
- All puppies have their 1st set of shots at 8 weeks, and depending on when they go home, the second set of shots will be done by us or by your veterinarian.
- All of our puppies will be de-wormed at least 3 times prior going to their new home. This starts at 2 weeks of age, and happens every 2 weeks until you take them home.
- We have the best health guarantee in the business, a 1 year guarantee against congenital defects. Where our guarantee is different is in that we will not only "replace a puppy" if necessary, we will also "pay for any corrective surgeries" if they should be come necessary regarding these congenital defects up to the price of the puppy. Most breeders only offer the replacement guarantee. We believe this is cold and unrealistic as most congenital defects will be detected in the first 3 to 9 months of life. By this time you will be very attached to the puppy and will not be interested in giving the pup up. This will leave you with no guarantee at all if you have a "Replacement Guarantee" only. - We breed our Havanese Puppies to have a round face and a shorter muzzle. This gives a cute look like the Ewoks in Star Wars, or Oscar the grouch on Sesame Street.
- Our Havanese Puppies range in size from 7 pounds to 13 pounds full grown.
- The colors of our Havanese Puppies are Champagne, parti-color (black and white), sable, chocolate, chocolate silver, silver, all black, all white, black with white markings, tri-color (brown, black, and white or Champagne mix). You will need to check our website or call for the exact availability.
- Most of our Havanese Puppies are able to go home at anywhere from 8 weeks to 18 weeks old. Our pups sell very quickly, but we do not get in a hurry. Finding the best home for them is paramount to us. If this happens at 8 weeks and the pup is ready, wonderful, but if it does not happen until 18 weeks, this is fine also. Older puppy sales are not a problem when they are being trained and socialized properly like we do.
- Our Havanese Puppies are very easy to potty train. We recommend crate training.
- Our Havanese Puppies do very well with kids and with other pets. They grow up around them and love them both very much for the rest of their lives.
- We sell our Havanese Puppies as precious pets only. We do not sell our Havanese Puppies for breeding or show purposes.
- We do offer limited AKC papers on our puppies.
- We do not and will not offer the full AKC papers. Full AKC papers are what is needed if you are a breeder or someone who shows dogs.
- Most of our customers will be a reference for us and at the appropriate time if necessary we will be glad to provide contact information to you for a customer of ours who has agreed to be a reference to speak with.
- All of our Havanese Puppies are very fun loving and playful. They are almost never barky or nippy.
- Our Havanese Puppies are very intelligent. At one point in their history the Havanese were used as circus dogs.
- Our Havanese Puppies are non-allergenic, also known as hypoallergenic.
- Our Havanese Puppies do not shed, and their hair will grow long if left untrimmed.
- Our prices vary, but remain among the lowest of the high quality, long term in home breeders. Please call for specific prices on each puppy.
- We occasionally have retiring moms or older puppies at reduced prices.
- We request that if you are intending to pick up a puppy and take it home with you, that your payment is in cash.
- Deposits are non-refundable, so please do not place a deposit if you are not completely sure that you want to purchase your puppy.
- Once you have purchased a puppy we are happy to take calls and help with any challenges you should have. If the puppy does not work out for any reason we will be happy to help you find that puppy a new home by advertising and promoting your puppy at no cost to you. Should someday you have to give up your puppy and the puppy must be removed from your home, we will take the puppy back and find the puppy a new home as well, but in this situation we keep all proceeds of the sale.
